(Civil War)"The Rebel Confederacy As Claimed In 1861 And As It Is Now."
Gettsyburg is over. Vicksburg is regained, and this large newspaper cover map published on August 10, 1863 shows that the momentum has changed and the Confederacy is on the skids. With a large woodblock map showing the initial span of the Confederate lands from the Territory of Arizona, to Florida and up to Maryland, now its a fraction of what it was. Now two swaths of territory span south Texas to Arkansas, and on the other side of the Mississippi a band sweeps the deep south from Alabama to Virginia. Rare.
Condition is good some minor soiling and point of loss in southern Indiana (note the photo). Overall size is approximately 19 x 14.5 (inches)
