He's appreciated as an American pictorial map maker, who worked in a sketch style of birds-eye maps and strip maps that captured a time of development from the 1930's to the 1960's. But aside from his pictorial works, he also innovated this "Fold-O-Globe" which was the "first important innovation in the Art of Map-making in 474 years...". It might be a bit of a grandiose self attestation to his four paneled globe, but it was "pat. app. for" at the time of publication.
