(NY - SoHo) Inside SoHo
It's an abbreviation for a neighborhood that is South of Houston street in Manhattan, but what it really meant at the time was an unique dynamo of American art and culture. It wasn't just the thirty some odd galleries found in this five by six block area of NYC, which included luminaries like Paula Cooper, Leo Castelli and Sonnabend. Nor was it the numerous different theaters and performance spaces which would be seminal like The Kitchen, Robert Wilson's experimental theater. It was the affordable spaces in the "cast-iron district" that brought about a cross-pollination and energy that epitomized an era in art, music and performance. This fold out map captures some of the unique culture as it was in the early 1970's.
Condition is good with some minor loss on the folds. Size is approximately 21 x 15.25 (inches)
